Computer Love: A simple case for techno-lust

Computer Love is like reading and writing – you just gotta know how to do it to survive! It took me a couple of years to get the whole alphabet, grammar, sentence structure, comprehension thing down, but that was a couple of grade school years well spent! Learning some Computer Love is no different, get the ABCs of it now and it’ll serve you for a lifetime. Look at it from this perspective…

How many years of productive life – you know… coaching, consulting, speaking, training, information sharing, managing, entrepreneurship or whatever it is you do –  do you have ahead of you?

Let me answer that for my 40-something to 50-something peers who might need a little encouragement embracing technology… about 20 years. Insert your own number here if you need to, but I’ll use 20 years just to make the math simple.

Next question… Where do you think you be on your productive growth/life-cycle curve just two years from now?

Okay, I’ll answer that one for you too… You’ll have made significant progress, but still have your peak/best years and greatest opportunities ahead of you. That’s my ‘glass-half-full’ prediction and you’re welcome to spruce it up even better if you’d like!

Based on that prediction of continued success, here’s my challenge to the technically timid: Spend the next two years immersing yourself in and adapting yourself to technology. Roll up your sleeves and develop your ‘tech  savvy’ – or as I call it, your Computer Love ♫.

Make it a priority for just 2 years and I give you my personal guarantee (for all that’s worth) that you’ll become comfortable with it, and it will serve you well into your unavoidably technology-saturated future. You will learn to love your computer and the 18 years (give or take a few) that follow will be heavenly bliss! Take if from a guy who’s in love with his laptop!

PEACE.
Rick

And on a personal note… my computer is even more fun when I’m using it “on a personal note!”  Music, movies, shopping, exploring together… We’re inseparable and NO I do not need therapy! :)

Yea, you do need therapy… LOL… but I get what you mean. Cool post. I would love my laptop even more if it were a little younger and hotter. LMAO

Yes! A young, hot laptop is the techno-lust wet dream! (Can I say that here?) I was just talking to a colleague about today’s computers as she’s looking to buy a new one soon. What great timing! Windows 7 is out… and supposedly better than ever. (unless you ask the Mac Guy) and computers are becoming even more affordable. Everytime I upgrade, I spend about the same amount but get much more computer. Two pieces of advice if you’re buying a new love soon… 1) NEVER buy a desktop! Who wants a love that anchors you down? and 2) Spend the extra dollar and get what you REALY want. Love is worth it! PEACE.
