A “BAD” idea for MJ?… “BEAT IT” if you can!
Now that the King of Pop is dead, I’ve already heard it said that he is probably worth more dead than he is alive. So here’s my plan to make a fortune on Mike’s unreleased music that is pointed to as being one of the well-springs of his future wealth. Since I don’t have any access to that music, the rest of you are welcome to take my idea and run with it.
Here’s the plan…
With this plan, Mike would retain his throne with the biggest selling anthology of posthumously released music ever. I’d compile every unreleased song, take and snippet I could find and arrange it into 5 compilations to be titled MJ1 through MJ5. (The cool part is I’d use the same lettering for the titles that they used back in the day for the original J5 (that’s ‘Jackson 5’ for you youngsters.).
MJ1-MJ5 would be sequenced to tell a story (Mike would dig this), but the story would be told backwards (Yo! What’s up, Quentin!). MJ1 would be his most recently unreleased tracks and stuff he might have done on his unrealized comeback tour. (Sales through the roof, Dog!)
MJ2-4 would also be lots of unreleased stuff, maybe with some remixing and dubs by some of today’s artists and celeb-types. These releases would, again be in a backwards chronology starting somewhere around “Invincible” and ending somewhere around “Off The Wall” or back even further. Of course, a GIANT “Thriller” salute has to be thrown in there somewhere.
MJ5… hmmm, maybe I’ll just call this one J5. Because this in the last in the series and takes us back to the beginning. Unreleased versions, alternate versions and remixed versions of original J5 songs. This one would also feature the other 4 Js (Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon. Okay, let’s throw in Randy too just so he won’t get pissed off!) .
This part of the King’s future financial legacy doesn’t even include all the digitally re-mastered original albums (Mike’s and the J5′s), greatest hits compilations, tribute albums and more that are bound to be released over the next decade. (I even have visions of Janet doing something… THAT WOULD BE HOT!). But “The MJ5 Series,” released and controlled by Mike’s estate, family or whoever owns the dude’s music, would be… OFF THE WALL!
Where can I get my copy?
PEACE.
Rick
(Things that are just taking up space in my head.)
PS. In checking out links for this post I was surprised that Mike ranks #8 on “The Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists.” Janet ranks #7!
