Vibration and Percussion Massage. What’s The difference?

If you don’t own a massage unit, you’re doing your aging, active body a grave injustice. I use mine on a regular basis for recovery and there are two kinds you should consider.

There’s percussion massage and vibration massage. Both are forms of soft tissue therapy but differ in intensity and technique:

  • Percussion Massage uses rapid, deep strokes to penetrate deeper muscle layers, promoting muscle recovery, reducing soreness, and increasing circulation. It’s ideal for athletes or those with muscle stiffness.
  • Vibration Massage uses gentle, continuous vibrations to relax muscles, stimulate nerves, and increase blood flow. It is less intense and better for general relaxation or treating sensitive areas.

When should you use them?:

  • Use percussion for post-workout recovery and tight muscles.
  • Choose vibration for relaxation, mild tension and pain relief.

You can usually get a great massage unit of either kind for the cost of one or two massages.

Do you have a massage unit? What kind? I’ve shown you mine, now show me yours!

PEACE.

Rick
