Corrective Exercise

As Thomasville’s Sole Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist accredited by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, I’m dedicated to restoring your movement, preserving your range of motion, and allowing you to move freely and without discomfort through my recovery bodywork.

The core of corrective exercise and the key to alleviating, preventing, or eliminating joint pain lies in the maintenance of proper form in every exercise. In the gym and during daily activities, improper form often leads to joint pain. Correcting this issue is often all that’s needed for a return to normalcy.

Our focus extends to enhancing your overall strength. Many individuals start with a beginner’s level of strength, meaning they’re relatively weak. By bolstering strength, both muscles and joints become more resilient, and better equipped to withstand various loads, forces, and repetitive stress, ultimately reducing or even eliminating joint pain.

Feeling & Moving Better

Our approach includes achieving a balance of strength around each joint. Many people have strength imbalances, such as weakness in their posterior and side chains, which can heighten the risk of pain. The body naturally seeks equilibrium, and this balance of strength around joints is a core component of the “corrective” process. If you’ve ever undergone physical therapy, you’re likely familiar with the idea of creating strength balance around affected joints during the rehabilitation process.

You’ll gain insight into and assess the range of motion at each major joint. This assessment will help identify areas where you might be tight, within a normal range, or hypermobile. From there, we’ll craft a program to establish flexibility and mobility balance at each major joint. This balance allows your body to move through its natural ranges, enhances efficiency and freedom of movement, and aids in maintaining proper form by eliminating restrictions in movement – all of which contribute to reducing or even eliminating joint pain.

Throughout our program, we’ll work within your pain-free range of motion. In most cases, you’ll notice an increase in your pain-free range of motion as you get stronger, improve your flexibility and mobility (thanks to our tailored program), and as time heals any existing issues.
